Q: I just bought a black knit jacket (on sale) which has mother-of-pearl style buttons. I think the suit was left-over from last summer. Do the buttons make the outfit look too summary for the winter months?
A: Yes, they do! Visit a button shop and change the buttons for a more season-appropriate look. Save the buttons. When summer comes, you can put the buttons back on. To make accessorizing this outfit easy, take your cues from the buttons you select. Gold earrings in the same finish of any gold buttons you choose for the suit, for instance, can instantly pull your look together. Have some fun winter shoes in a hard-to-match color? Consider bringing the shoes to the button store and purchasing buttons in the same hue. Before you go to the button store, give all your garments a once over. Changing buttons is often an excellent way to give old favorites in your closet a new lift!
