Q: I have several problems when I hang my clothes. I prefer to hang as much as possible so I can see what I have. However, even though I use a good quality plastic hanger some of my clothes inevitably slip off the hanger, especially scoop neckline knit tops. Any suggestions to prevent this form happening? Also, how do you prevent the hanger from making pointy marks in the shoulder area. I wear mostly cotton knits.
A: I, too, am a big fan of hanging everything up so I can see it. However, I do have a few sweaters that I fold on a shelf in my closet because they slip off or are too delicate to handle hangers. I use an open shelf (shown in the Hold Everything catalog for shoe storage) to put these sweaters on. The shelf fits under my short hanging items so I can always see these tops. The trick is to pare down each season so you only have items on these shelves that you love and don't get buried by what I call "maybe some days!!" that just take up valuable storage space.
