Q: I do not know what toile is. You refer to it in one of your articles. I have worked in clothing stores in the past and have never heard of it. I understand you are referring to it as a type of fabric. Can you describe it more?
A: You're not the only one looking for more information about toile! Yes, it is a fabric (commonly used for home decorating) but it's the design that makes it distinguishable. The design typically has a heavy botanical theme and can have children swinging from trees, walking and playing. The fabric is always one color (black and red are common). Visit an upscale furniture store and you will most likely see it on chairs, coaches and drapes. It's everywhere in clothes this season and makes a stylish statement when worn as an accent.
