Q: I would like to know your take on embroidered jackets. I have never been a "plain" suited person and tend to be drawn to jackets with embroidery on them. Can I wear them to work?
A: We love embroidered and embellished jackets. It's how you coordinate all the elements of your outfit that matters most. An easy way to incorporate one of these jackets into your wardrobe is to start with a monochromatic base — all one color from shoulder to hem. For instance, wearing a chocolate brown turtleneck with chocolate brown pant with a lighter-colored jacket that has mauve and lilac embroidered designs would be stunning. Brown is a hot color this fall and it really looks nice with some of the pastel-colored embroidery featured on fashions this season. Coordinated in a way that sets a business tone, many embroidered jackets are also appropriate and stylish for the office, especially if you work in a creative environment.
