For November, 2002:
Q: I have just purchased a two-piece plum velvet outfit for a black tie November wedding. The top is v-neck with sheer ruffles around the neck and down the front covering the buttons and the skirt is long with a slit up the front also ruffled around bottom and slit. The color is a very dark plum. What would be the best shoes (type and fabric) and color stockings to wear and also, I saw a plum colored velvet evening bag with a satin trim and handle in a lighter plum. Would this be a good choice or too matchy? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
A: I suggest purchasing a dressy black sling back pump — DSW Show Warehouse is a good source for affordability and style. Off black or nude stockings both work with a long skirt this season after 5. I'd go with a black purse so that you can use it more than once and have it connect easily with the shoe. The shoe can have a satin finish or be a combination of leather and patent — plain leather can be a little drab. Have fun!
