Tip of the Week Archives

Yes! I have a question!

Ask Mary Lou!

Each month, Mary Lou answers (and we post!) a fashion question from one of our site visitors. If you have something you want to know to help pull together your wardrobe with style and confidence, ask away!

We also announce that the monthly question and answer is available to read in our free weekly Dressing Well "Tip of the Week!" You may want to subscribe if you haven't already done so.

Bookmark this page and return back soon to see if your question has been answered!

For August, 2003:

Q: Is it more fashionably correct when wearing a sweater around the shoulders to have the buttons facing out or in toward the back?

A: In my opinion, personal choice reigns here. Personally, I think they look more tidy when the buttons are facing "in" and tend to wear mine this way in professional and dressy situations. In more casual situations, I'm less deliberate about which side the buttons are facing. In other words, I take the "shabby chic" approach and I throw them on and let them be! Hope this helps. I couldn't live without my cardigan "accessories" especially this time of year.

Our June 23rd Dressing Well "Tip of the Week" titled "The Versatile Twinset" is another great resource for incorporating twin sets into your wardrobe. Click it out!
