For May 2008:

Q: I am the mother of the groom and I am not sure what to wear in my son’s wedding. The Bridesmaids are wearing fuchsia and the mother of the bride is wearing silver/grey. The wedding will be held this August in Colorado. What color should I wear?

A: This is such and exciting time and sounds like a wonderful event. I love the idea of fuchsia and white and this color combination will be beautiful for the photographs. I think that if you stay basic in your color choice you will be in great shape. I would focus on the following colors - chocolate brown, champagne or navy blue. Any of the three would compliment both the fuchsia and silver/grey nicely. You do not want to be matchy-matchy with the bridesmaids or the mother of the bride, you want to pick a coordinating color that is going to be flattering to you and accent the wedding colors. It is important to stay away from, ivory, off white, tan and of course white.

Whatever dress you choose, looking and feeling your best on your son's day is important. Find a style that fits, flatters and is comfortable, in a complimentary color and cut to the rest of the bridal party, and you cannot go wrong.
