Why I’m Not Giving Up on Leggings
As I sit here writing this note from our Washington, DC hotel room (my husband and I are on our way home from our month-long adventure working remotely from South Carolina), I realize I’m wearing the same gray leggings I had on when we started our journey south on February 1st.
When we left Boston, I was wearing them with my Ugg boots and down parka. It was 9 degrees!
Today I’m wearing them with my light gray Ugg socks (love!) and my dark gray Birkenstock “slide on” sandals, two other staples I never go on the road without regardless of the season. Planes and hotel rooms are cold!
While my skinny jeans are taking a bit of a break right now, my gray leggings will never be out of rotation. Simply the most comfy pants to travel in. Check out my favorite brand here. They even have pockets!
As I get ready to settle back into homelife this weekend after our fun time away, here are a few other things I’m grateful for right now.
#1 Color WOW Root Coverup
Being on the road kept me away from my hairdresser. Yes, I’m scheduled Saturday for a cut and color. I made sure of that! #2 Wedding Guest Style
We have 7 weddings between now and next summer. A new chapter has begun! I have two dresses ready to go for the fall weddings and picked up two more in Hilton Head to wear this summer. I actually wore this coral dress to the wedding of a dear friend’s daughter in Hilton Head two years ago. It will be making a repeat appearance soon enough. #3 20th Anniversary of Belle of the Ball
Speaking of dresses, we are thrilled to be a sponsor of the annual Belle of the Ball prom gown event for the 20th year in a row. Time sure moves. This year’s event is being held Saturday, April 11th at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Our role is to support the volunteer personal shoppers who will be helping the over 1200 registered students find their dream dress, shoes and other accessories. They leave with it all! If you’d like to volunteer, here’s a link to learn more and register to join. It’s simply one of the best days of our year and we believe it will be one of yours too.
#4 Love Story
For me, March madness has nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with great movies and shows. Right now I’m loving Love Story on Hulu. It shares the on again off again relationship of JFK junior and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. While the storyline is riveting (it’s about the Kennedy’s after all), what is most captivating to me is Carolyn’s classically understated style. Have you seen it? I highly recommend. Her signature neutral palette, simple cuts and elegant lines are all perfectly put together and breathtaking. She is a style icon for sure!
#5 Bring Fido
Finally, so many of you have written to ask what it’s like to travel with a pet after seeing all the photos I posted of sweet Suzy Q while we were away. This website is an awesome resource for pet-friendly travel. We found hotels, restaurants, and dog parks up and down the east coast to accommodate our sweet pup. Suzy sure does love to travel with her people!
