5 Styles NOT to Bring Into 2026

A great way to approach any new year is to look back and look forward.

When it comes to your wardrobe, think about what you’d like more of (what you actually wore that made you feel great in 2025) and what you want less of (basically everything else!). The key to dressing well is paring down and then being extra thoughtful with what you add.

In our January blog, we share 5 fresh styles and wardrobe mindset shifts that will help you embrace the year ahead with gusto. Enjoy!

#1 Clothes that Don’t Fit
When it comes to style, there is no substitute for a good fit. Women’s clothes are sold in petite, missy, plus and tall, with many of us a combination of sizes. Lock arms with brands that fit in 2026 and see your style soar!

#2 Color Palette Boredom
Winter neutrals include the usual suspects — black, gray, winter while, cranberry, camel and many shades of denim. They mix well with bights, gold, silver and the like. If you have these neutrals covered, consider embracing teal as a new neutral and watch daily color frustration fade away.

#3 Ho-Hum Accessorizing
Who doesn’t need more joy in the winter? Adding some unique flair (aka accessories!) is an easy way to get it. Consider adding novelty with things that automatically make you smile. We are all over the dachshund accessory trend, an ode to Mary Lou’s sweet pup Suzy Q!

#4 Overly Tidy Outfits
The old rules of dress have been slipping away for quite some time. Comfort is key and individuality is where style starts. Shoes no longer match bags and belts, track pants look chic with heels and oversized, unisex blazers mock tradition and formality in such a fun way. Try untucking, wearing kicks with longer skirts and accenting your base capsule wardrobe with a more relaxed, overall vibe.

#5 Shoes that Kill Your Feet
Finally, When your feet aren’t smiling, you’re not smiling! There are many comfortable shoe (and boot!) brands for uncomfortable feet. You just need to take the time to find them. Boots, loafers, flats, heels and sneakers all have a place in a winter wardrobe. When they are comfortable, even better!
