5 Summer Packing Hacks that Never Go Out of Style

For many, summer is the best season of the year. Schedules are a bit more relaxed, the weather offers a glorious change of pace, and vacation and travel plans kick into high gear.

Yet packing stress can steal your summer joy, especially when you lack a system for planning outfits and getting out the door fast. In this month’s blog post we share 5 of our timeless tips to help you set your closet up for summer getaway success. Enjoy!

#1 Three Tops for Every Bottom
Start your pack by picking lightweight pants, jeans, skirts, and shorts that match the destination and weather where you’re headed. Add three tops for each bottom for climate control, vibe and versatility. Your pack just got instantly easier!

#2 Three Shoes for Every Dress
When traveling, having a dress that can easily move from day to night is key. Make it casual with flats, uber comfy with sneakers, and elevated with heels. Bonus Stylist Tip: Make sure everything else you pack works with at least one of these three pairs of shoes. Your pack (and back!) will thank you.

#3 Unify with a Signature Color
Use one signature color to get organized and instantly unify all your outfits. Start with neutral bottoms, dresses, and layering pieces. Add belts, shoes, bags, wraps, jewelry, tees, shorts, bathing suits and the like in one primary color. Red, coral, and turquoise all work well in the summer months. You’ll end up with many outfits with fewer pieces while becoming a much more focused packer (and shopper!).

#4 Summer Sets
Sets allow you to feel put together without thought. From PJs to workoutwear to loungewear to beachwear to after-5 attire, dressing (and packing!) is simply easier with sets.

#5 The Weekend Getaway Bag
Finally, for weekend warriors, the key to low stress getaways is having a well-thought-out tote at the ready. Take time early in the season to set it up in a way that supports your life. Smaller bags for toiletries, makeup, sunscreen and hair products should easily fit into your tote. Designated travel sleepwear, undergarments, sandals and sweats are also a good idea. Bonus Stylist Tip: Pack and unpack your bag in your laundry room to save even more time!
