Coat Closet Checkup: 5 Styles to Wear Now

Time to open the coat closet door and get this important part of your wardrobe in top working order for the month ahead. Fall and winter coats serve slightly different needs. For now, you want a variety of layers that work on chilly days and some for days that are not quite as raw. Below are 5 styles to help you ease into coat season. Enjoy!

#1 Sweater Coats
A great way to take sweater weather into the month of November while adding easy polish to your everyday style.

#2 Shacket
Half jacket and half shirt, these are the perfect fall pick for casual days running errands, school pickups, football games…you get the gist!

#3 The Duster
They follow the long line of full cut pants and skirts and connect to the “slouchy” look of the moment. They can be dressed up with heels and evening wear, or dressed down with more casual boots and sneakers.

#4 Fall Trench
Many believe trench coats are a spring coat staple. On the contrary! Those made of leather (with or without fun embellishments such as faux fur trim) and other enhancements including fun fall colors, plaid patterns and the like are a standout this time of year.

#5 The Short Puffer
Finally, attention all puffer coat lovers! There will be plenty of time for your longer, more traditional down parkas later in the season. For now, shorter puffers reign supreme!

Editor’s Note: Coat drives are in high gear, making it a great time to donate styles that no longer serve you. In the greater Boston area, we are big fans of Coats for Kids & Families, sponsored by our friends at Anton’s Dry Cleaners. Anton’s annual program is collecting winter coats for children and adults October 2nd through January 7th at all Anton’s Cleaners locations. Learn where to donate or set up your own coat drive!
